Size, more than colour, drives dyadic interactions in sub-adults of a colour polymorphic cichlid

چکیده
Abstract Social and aggressive behaviours often affect the fitness of multiple interacting individuals simultaneously. Here, we assessed dyadic interactions in a colour-polymorphic cichlid fish, red devil, Amphilophus labiatus. We found that sub-adult devil pairs smaller body size interacted more, were more towards each other, than comprising larger individuals. Interactions did not significantly differ between colour morphs, i.e. dark, gold heterotypic pairs. Interestingly, within broad range parameters, an automated measure time two fish spent close proximity was accurate proxy for their level aggression, as measured by observer from video recordings. These results show that, devils, (aggressive) depend on size, but morph, In addition, support use data-gathering approaches appropriate tool studies aggression.

Combination of Colour Favoured and Colour
In this research we described the effective Hamiltonian theory and applied this theory to the calculation of current-current (Q1,2) and QCD penguin (Q3,…,6) c quark decay rates. We calculated the decay rates of semileptonic and hadronic of charm quark in the effective Hamiltonian theory. We investigated the decay rates of D meson decays according to Spectator Quark Model (SQM) for the calculati...
متن کاملThe melanocortin system regulates body pigmentation and social behaviour in a colour polymorphic cichlid fish.
The melanocortin system is a neuroendocrine system that regulates a range of physiological and behavioural processes. We examined the extent to which the melanocortin system simultaneously regulates colour and behaviour in the cichlid fish Astatotilapia burtoni We found that yellow males are more aggressive than blue males, in line with previous studies. We then found that exogenous α-melanocyt...

متن کاملThere's more to colour than meets the eye.
Patients with cerebral achromatopsia, a perceptual disorder caused by ventromedial occipital brain damage, can be completely unable to arrange colours in chromatic sequence and fail most conventional tests of colour blindness. A possible explanation for cerebral achromatopsia is that the colour-opponent parvocellular (P) channel has been selectively and totally destroyed at the level of visual ...

Three psychophysical experiments were conducted to investigate the colour appearance changes between different sizes under various media or viewing conditions.
